This boiler is a 300 MW Babcock & Wilcox PC Fired boiler equipped with twenty-four (24) BHI FW Vortex Series/Split Flame (VS/SF) Low NOx Burners (LNB) and Overfire Air (OFA). Originally, the unit was configured in a “Cell” arrangement – the burners arranged with four (4) clusters of three (3) burners on both the front and back wall. BHI FW redesigned the burner spacing on the front and rear walls to be more consistent with a traditional PC unit – four (4) columns of three (3) rows on each wall. The coal piping was re-engineered and supplied by BHI FW along with all associated boiler and platform steel necessary. The Unit has been successfully operating meeting contractual emission and boiler performance guarantees for seven years.
The unit fires low sulfur Powder River Basin (PRB) coal.
